cool beans and congrats to you successful hunters.
I was sitting on my back porch when a loner walked by about 20 yards away. My cat Jazzman and I watched him pecking away for about 20 min.
    Easy crossbow range.
A shorter beard, maybe 6 or 7 inches.
I'll check my cam tomorrow, I think he went by it.

Not quite as much luck with me... I had 2 males run in within 20 yards or so at around 6:30 yesterday... I had my gun shouldered and ready to go, but I didn't take a shot on either because I wasn't too sure if I saw their beards... The way the elevation was made it hard to see if they had them. They went down the ridge to my left. I had clucked back and forth with them for a couple of minutes after that (was desperately hoping to get them back up so I could have another look). Alas, off they went...

So the question is, as a relatively new hunter, did I make the right call? Or should I have taken it?
You couldn't 100 percent identify your target as legal. I think you made the right call.

This is heresay, but while up in Sullivan Co. hunting turkeys at a friends cabin, a local asked how we'd done. We told him that we'd had gobblers calling and responding but hadn't scored. He then asked if we'd heard any grouse drumming and each of us had only heard one drummer. He then mentioned that he had heard that both the turkey and grouse populations have been hit with avian flu. I haven't noticed a decline in the populations but going forward we may see a drop by Fall and into the next year.

    Maybe sandcut has more info.

This is how you do it.

I went to Canonsburg lake this morning with my Mitchell 300 and Ugly Stick.

I put on a silver daredevil with a JoeFlies trailer and got a couple hits right off the git go. Man, I thought I'll be havin me some trout sammiches for lunch.

Caught the smallest legal trout I ever caught but on the stringer till his big brothers come by.

It all went down hill. I was hoping to maybe knock one out with a 1/4 oz gold spoon I was sending way out there since nightcrawler, velveeta cheese, mealworms and red worms weren't getting it.

Didn't hook anything for the duration so was going to let the little guy go to get bigger.
I ended up only having half.

I've had them nibble at my catch but never had them take much of it.

    Probably turtles.

Should have caught them and made soup.
