That's usually the case with Ruger...the beauty is in that fact it'll never break.

I would think that, once the novelty/new-product premium wears off, the street price should be in the low $400-range, pretty close to that of Sub2000. Bonus point: perhaps the increased competition would force the Sub2000's price lower... one can hope,

I think part of the reason it's "ugly" is the result of the break down feature removing the upper covered area over the barrel as well as the addition of functional rails and a muzzle that is threaded.

All of which add function over form to some extent.
Some people just like to bitch. I don't see a lot of valid things to bitch about on this one - unless it's not even remotely the type of carbine you want.

Maybe that will help drive down the pricing of the originals!

Go buy a 10 round, Hi-Point toy if you don't want to pay for a real carbine.

And street price for the new sub-2000 is around $400, which is a better PCC

^This!!^ Plus there will likely be different versions/varieties that may have different stocks (more tacticool?). Look at how the American Rifle has taken off.

Ruger's availability and street record is way beyond that of Keltec. That along would make the decision for me.

The real competition for this IMO is the FX-9 and ATI milsport. But this takes down and is hundreds less. Again, made by a more reputable company.

Looks like Ruger is going to release a bunch this year. Looks like a new pistol too. "Security 9" it's called.
