Stupid question: magazine capacity, centerfire rifles for large game
I can't find in the guide. Anyone know which page?
What is the mag capacity for centerfield bolt action rifles, e.g. for deer?
Thanks.

Re: Stupid question: magazine capacity, centerfire rifles for large game
Never known there to be one for bolt action. My Dad hunted for years with a 303 British Enfield with a 10 round mag and 1 in the pipe.

Re: Stupid question: magazine capacity, centerfire rifles for large game
There is no magazine capacity for centerfire rifles for hunting. The tube magazine on my Henry lever gun holds 10 rounds. I could fill it and still be hunting lawfully, provided that I unloaded before placing it back in my vehicle to move locations.

Thanks. That's what I thought but wanted to confirm since there is nothing in the guide.

Leave it to assbackwards PA to have mag limits at a range and none for hunting.

Re: Stupid question: magazine capacity, centerfire rifles for large game
This is from the guide:
Deer and Bear, Regular Seasons
• Manually operated (pump, lever, bolt actions, single-shot)
centerfire rifles, shotguns (shotguns do not have to be plugged
when hunting deer, bears or elk) and handguns (revolvers or
single-shots) with all-lead bullet or ball, or bullet designed to
expand on impact;
• Muzzleloading long guns of any type, 44 caliber or larger, or a
muzzleloading handgun 50 caliber or larger, and;
• Long, recurve, compound bows (minimum draw weight of 35
pounds) or crossbows (minimum 125-pound draw weight), with
a broadhead that has an outside diameter or width of at least 7/8
of an inch and may not exceed 3.25 inches in length. The use of
buckshot is not legal, except in the Southeast Special Regulations
Area.Some people just plain suck.

Re: Stupid question: magazine capacity, centerfire rifles for large game
I hunted for years with an SMLE (.303 British) with stock military 10-round mag. I managed to locate a second mag and cut it down to hold 5. Hard to recall any past experiences in Penna woodlands when more than six shots would have presented if one was inclined to spray and pray. One exception might be blasting away at deer running across a large expanse of open field.
