    Default Pulled HSTs

Just got some 230 grain HST pulled bullets. Not to bad looking for a "pulled" bullet. Now if anyone has any descent load data in the 900 fps range. I am looking at just shy of +p loads. Thinking of using Longshot or a slow powder like Unique. Ant suggestions?

AA#5, HS-6, and Power Pistol come to mind, and I have used for similar loadings in 45 Auto. Unique is nice too, as it seems for so many pistol rounds. The new Alliant BE-86 looks to be a great choice too... Have a look over at:

If these are carry rounds I would go with a lower flash powder. From the testing I have seen of muzzle flash with different powders HS-6 was one of the best. Power Pistol is a very good powder (I use it myself) but it has a lot of muzzle flash. The HS-6 meters as well as Power Pistol, will get you close to 900fps velocities (have to chrono your loads) and have low flash. The 230gr HST is a very reliable expander and has a rather wide velocity window for reliable expansion so I would not be too worried if you don't quite hit 900fps.

Factory 230gr hst chronoed at 825 out of my p220 carry.
I use 7.4 gr of power pistol for my 230 gr xtp for a consistent 850 fps this is above book max. So work your way up.

Finally got to test the Longshot HSTs, 10 shot average was 833 fps. Was printing at about 2" at 25 yards. I think I found my new carry round.
