Fiber Optic front sight....red or green...and why?
Currently have night sights, great at night, poor in day.....especially with aging eyes.
Which fiber optic gives the better view night and day? Green/Red ?Its easier to fool people than to convince them they've been fooled....Mark Twain

The only one I have with with fiber is a g17, red front and green rear. They do work great in the day. I got the truglo ones.

I think it's more of a personal preference rather than one is better than the other. Me, I prefer the red ones. I have a friend who prefers the green ones. I would try to find some people who have both colors mounted and have them let you handle the guns in the daylight to see what you are going to like the best.

Re: Fiber Optic front sight....red or green...and why?
The Truglo that Tonyfac talks about are fantastic I have them on a couple of pistols. I prefer the green front over the red just works better for my older eyes, I use green on my Cz 75 customs. I take the small one that come with the sight and toss it and then install over sized fiber optic rods and melt them down so that I have a nice sized dot. With that setup I usually use a Flat black tactical rear with a wide notch so front sight pick up is fast.

I'm pretty sure either will work daytime. Does either stand out more at night or just show up black?

HI-VIZ, front and rear sight fiber optics are excellent. The front sight fiber
optic can be changed out to various colors and sizes. MY Sig 228 came with
a Hi-Viz set up with 3 Green and 3 Red in small, medium, and large. Check
there website for more info for your paticular pistol to fit your needs.FUNDAMENTALS

Re: Fiber Optic front sight....red or green...and why?
For me so far my experience is only with my shotgun. I took the bead off and put in a hiviz red fo sight. But it came with all sorts of colors. This season I just swapped it out for a green to try it out and for me, the green just pops and stands out way better when out in the woods hunting. So it's all down preference.
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Re: Fiber Optic front sight....red or green...and why?
Had a Hi-Vis red on my S&W 500 mag from the factory. My eyes are terrible and never liked the red. Swapped out to green and much happier. I wear yellow tinted glasses and the green stands out much better than the red. Still going to be a personal preference though. Good Luck.
