So you're homeschooling your alien children?

I can't believe you Pittsburghers haven't advised him yet to be wary of tunnels.

all you get is ridicule, laughter,

For aliens, Mars and Moon Twp. both have good school districts. But Moon is through a tunnel, and Mars is only a couple of miles from Evans City, of Night of the Living Dead fame, you know, aliens and zombies n'at. Always compromises.

This is all wonderful information. Thank you all so much. Looks like we will be looking at the North Hills area. This information is is stuff I would have never of found online. Thank you again.

We definitely need a free standing house to rent. There is no way we can fit everything into an apartment building. So much time in the military and all the moves you collect a lot of crap. We might try to make a trip up there in June to take a look around.

I would prefer a rural area over the populated city as well. I grew up country, but my adult life has been in the city. I would like to get away from the downtown city life.

blau iii - I will take you up on some temp work once we get my kid in to some school. I was a prior engineer in the Air Force, but as soon as our child came around one of us had to take the jump out from military life to domestic life. I am ready to get into some work again, even if it is 3 hrs a day. Hell I wouldn't mind being a Zamboni driver.

On a firearm topic, does PA require a CCW to transport firearms? When I am driving into PA my firearms will be locked in their cases and in my trailer, do I need anything special since I am moving into PA? Or am I ok with just my NM license?

Just tossing it out there since you have the pooch.

THANK YOU! Our dog is our second child. It sounds stupid, but when you have a dog that has protected your family you will give him the best care you can afford.

This is going in my file right now.

    LOL

The two major tunnels are the Fort Pitt tunnels right at the city which handle traffic to/from the south and the Squirrel Hill tunnels which handle traffic to/from the east.
The Squirrel hill tunnels back up a lot - and they are under construction - a lot.

There's also the Liberty tunnels near downtown that go to Rt 51. (south)

Each of the major arteries (parkways) have their own slowdowns, but the tunnels are always a source of angst amongst commuters.

Tunnels are great if you want to spend an extra 20 or 30 minutes a day listening to audiobooks. They're choke points on the highways from the west, south & east. Many people live their entire lives in one place and would never, ever think of moving to someplace through a tunnel or across a river. Sacrilege! My wife and I are Pgh Gypsies, I grew up in the South Hills, my wife grew up in the east, we lived in the city, and now we live up north. My inlaws never visited our house once in 10 years because crossing 2 rivers and a tunnel was an unbearable journey.

lol, make 4 right hand turns in another city and you wind up where you started. Make 4 right hand turns in Pittsburgh, and you wind up in Weirton, WV.

PVSEC is an excellent ER and specialty hospital. For regular care, you can check with http://www.vcahospitals.com/duncan-manor

The main vet is the father of one of PVSEC's former ER docs who Emptymag and I liked, as he always treated us well.
