Stick w/the Being Serviced S&W 686, or Trade?
My "bad out-of-the-box" 686 is at the dealer where I purchased it. If not a quick fix, he'll be sending it to S&W. Details are here:

Assuming it comes back to me working, how would you feel about depending on it? Typically, I'll put at least 300-400 rounds through a gun before considering it to be a gun I'd depend on. In this case though, with the nature of the failure, and it failing so early in it's life, am I wrong to feel queasy about ever really being able to trust it?
I'm feeling like I should consider a GP100, and trade/sell the Smith as soon as I get it back."I don't care what went wrong. I beat the snot out of it until it works" - Clint Smith
