After talking with Surefire on the phone, I got the feeling that they were not sure if the 1300 Defender forend would fit the 1200 Police.

Today I got this email from surefire:

Dear Sir,

Thank you for your interest in SureFire products. Unfortunately, the 636 series will not fit the older model 1200 shotguns. If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to write back or call us at 1-800-828-8809. We are dedicated to providing world class customer service.

I'm still not sure why it will not fit because we have swapped them out in the shop. Bottom line is, if the Surefire forend will not fit the 1200 Police...we could replace the forend tube on the 1200 with the correct length tube from the 1300 Defender. We would have to look at them, measure them and find the correct forend tube. Should not be a problem.

I'm still on the case. I need answers on things like this, in case I ever run across it again. I like to have answers for customers instead of looking like a fool. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Mtbski,

don't waste your money on the cheap maglight clamp from tacstar...I'll let ya try mine out and see if you like it any better (ie my tacstar maglight clamp)

I couldn't get it to stay on under the recoil of my 590

I have a pelican light taped to my mag tube. It's really bright, and has been there for about 2+ years now. The duct tape always gets a reaction at the pfoa shoots, but it's cheap and it works.

There's an issue, how do you keep it illuminated while cycling the action if it's fixed to the mag tube? You can use a wire with a tape switch, but wires are just there to get caught on things.

This is really why i only recommend the surefire forends for shotguns.
