12 ga pump, either a remington or a mossberg.

Ding!

26/28in with assorted chokes.

Buy another barrel (18.5) for Home Defense.

You can get a Rem. Sythn. 3in for about 275-300.

Everyone needs at least one 870 Rem and 500 Moss. Both are great guns, especially for the price. (with lots of options to customize later if wanted) They're great for every occasion. (I personally use my mossberg more though.) You can also easily get slug barrels too.

Remington 870. Lots of aftermarket barrels, stocks, etc to configure it to any purpose from grouse to tactical. Simple, tough & dependable. I've had one for over 30 years & while it's not pretty anymore, it's still going strong.

I agree, everyone should have at least one 870. I have three. One is a 2009 12ga HD set up, one is a '63 .410 that was passed down through my grandfather, and another one from the 80's in 20ga that I use for clays. Can't go wrong with an 870. Good Luck

Browning Citori White Lightning. Good all around gun. Remington 11-87 would fill the bill also. Pick up a used Browning A-5, I've shot one for years, they are pretty much bullet proof. Skb makes a nice budget priced O\U also.

Go with 12 guage, most versatile.
Try something from the mossberg "field" line. I think they come with two seperate barrels, one choked for turkey/bird and another for slugs.

Also, the word is advice, not advise.

An 870 or Mossy 500 in 12ga will do everything most people need to do including putting a slug barrel on it for HD and getting a 30in barrel for Clays. Be safe and enjoy.
