First of all, how about a little punctuation?

Look on Gunbroker for comparables.

Here's a link to an old discussion about a 916

http://forum.pafoa.org/shotguns-43/2...n-shotgun.html (Smith and Wesson ShotGun)

Next time, post a question like this in the shotgun forum, and use a subject like "What's a S&W 916 worth?" Hopefully a mod will help you out and fix this one.

I am not familar with S&W shotguns, but........you might get some information at www.shotgunworld.com The guys over there are very knowledgeable about the smoothbore world.
Good luck and welcome to PAFOA. Yeah, you really need to work on your sentence structure. {just saying it will help the readers}
I wouldn't count on collectors piece. But your dad gave it to you, you should keep it and enjoy it.

I have one I bought new in the 70s. It's a durable utility shotgun. It's biggest drawback is the single action bar which results in a little binding sometime and also easier to break than a Remington. The fixed barrel also limits their versitility. The agency I worked for had them into the late 80s and recalled them all replacing them with 870s. They are not collector's items, worth maybe $150-175 if in very good-excellent condition.
