I will second what LeviB and Flash have said.

If this is a field gun, the stocks are generally lower. Most trap guns have at least a "Monte Carlo" hump to it. This will keep your head up and less likely to look over the barrel.

Is this to "hone" up for small game season or are you getting into shooting trap?

It is a natural reaction to want to see the bird being broken.

Cheers

It is a field gun. I guess that I am doing this to hone up on small game season, but, more importantly, to hone up on general shotgun skills.

I have improved (but still not very good) since I started. The keys for me was to keep my head down (don't worry about seeing it break), follow thru, and lock the gun in and swing the lower torso to get the gun on target.

Thanks to all that responded.

I may attribute it to improper stock placement? When I shoot shotgun, my head never has to move, just like in shooting a rifle. My stock sits in a way where the toe of the stock (that lowest point) sits comfortably in the soft spot just below the collar bone. and everytime I raise the shotgun/rifle, IT comes to my cheek automatically, and my eyes are looking just over the rib, through the beads. and if you do that enough times, you'll shoot where you look everytime. (at least that's how it is when I shoot trap/skeet)

Like synergy said, when I do that , my whole upper body is like a pan/tilt turret - my mid-section does the rotation or panning (legs/hip help sometimes), and upper back (think ribcage and up) does the up/down tilt. my arms and head are always fixed relative to each other.
