Whats everyones opinions on these shotguns? Looks like they are cheap 870 knock offs that are utilized by the Chineese military.

I've read nothing but good things about them, except for comments from people who never even held one and just want to bash on the fact that they are made in China. The only repeated criticisms I've heard is that site mounting screws tend to wiggle loose through firing, but they are easy to replace, and that the pump action is not quite as smooth as more expensive guns (imagine that).

I really want to buy one, but can't find one locally. Bud's has them for 185 shipped, so I guess I'll probably get one from them/FFL.

I did see a comparably equipped Mossberg (18.5 inch with GR sites) at Tanners for about $230, but I'm not sure what model it was. I'm guessing it was a Maverick 88, and not a real 500, unless it was used and I just missed that part. I wasn't really paying that much attention to the details. The MSRP on a Maverick 88 is $199, so that's probably what it was.

You can also get a New England Firearms Pardner Protector (18.5 inch. synthetic stock 870 copy) (also made in China) at Dicks for about 230. This is the exact same gun as the Hawk 982 (made by the same Chinese manufacturer), but without the GR sites. By the way, NEF is a brand owned by H&R, which in turn is owned by Remington Arms. Puts a little damper on all the whining about it being "made in China" aye?

You should have tried yours before you sold it!

I shot it once, about 10 rounds, target loads and one each 00 buck and slug.

It was a Sunday, my shoulder was still sore Wednesday.

I have a bad habit of buying a gun - then falling in love with another. So I end up selling it only to want it back again then!

Wait, you had a Hawk and sold it without ever firing it?

Are you talking about the Hawk 982? Why did this happen?

I did. Bad move cuz I want another ... lol - everthing I heard has been good not bad reviews.

There was one other thing, which is probably what Dan was referring to.

People said that the recoil pad was pretty worthless.

But you can probably replace that for $20

Not sure if the price is the same on all Pardners across the board at Dicks but I saw a Pardner camo patterned hunting 12ga pump[probably 26" barrel] on sale at Dicks for $179.
