Dick's has a Mossberg 535 turkey/waterfowl 12G magnum for 329.00 plus a 30.00 mail in rebate....You get a 22 inch turkey bbl with a xx-turkey choke..You also get a 28 inch bbl with a full and mod choke..It is synthetic with mossy oak camo..You also get a red dot scope...It shoots 2 & 3/4,3,and 3 & 1/2 shells...The turkey bbl has red and green fiber optic sights on it...I thought,what a buy....I bought it.

Mossberg 500a or the Remington 870 are both excellent choices in the lower end of the price range. I say lower end because just like the AR's and 1911's you can get one in jjust about any config you want. Some of you pro skeet and trap shooters spend 1000's on their shot guns.

My old man gave me the mossberg the his father bought him 30yrs ago and it still works like a charm. JUst gotta take care of them, and they will take care of you.

I bought my son the Remington 870 28inch at Walmart in New Castle. I paid $269.00, which from what I understand now is a great buy.

http://www.remington.com/products/fi..._synthetic.asp

It came with one choke. I had to separately purchase the skeet choke, which was about $13.00 from Midway USA.
I did look around at some local gun shops which were asking $349.00 for the same gun.
The Mossberg 500 was about $325.00 at the same Walmart.

I spent less than $350.00 that day buying a shotgun, 2 value boxes of #8 shot, a case, a skeet apron/pouch and some ear things. I think I got a good buy.

I pm'd Kaos and encouraged him to try the shotty at the shoot.

Michele-
You are a good mom!

I've seen many police trade-ins at the most of the gun shows that I've been too. You can't go wrong with a Remington 870 or Mossberg 500/590.
I have both and like the 590 for HD and the 870 for busting clays.

Thank you.

Well I don't know much about shottys except they hurt.

I guess the best advice is fondle everything you can get your hands on then you can make an informed decision.

It's one of the reasons Im glad Frenchy is having clays at the shoot. Id love to get his advice on shotguns as well.

Trying to get most of the stuff on "the list" before the election......
