yes: DON'T DO IT! they're grossly ocerpriced, from guns to ammo to accessories. the only thing i'd ever buy there is ammo, because they keep some hard to find stuff in stock. there are plenty of other dealers in Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, and Wayne County to go to.

have you been to Northeast Firearms in Honesdale? they're not too far from you. here in Scranton, there's Bill's Sporting Goods. in Eynon, Gun Toter's Supply. in Pittston, Advanced Arms. in Throop, J&G Sports and Zeller's.

i made the mistake of buying my first gun in Gander Mountain. i knew nothing about guns or shops. i didn't have the benefit of this forum, either. i'll never buy another gun there.

I can tell you that all Gander's are overpriced on their guns. I've bought (2) from Gander, 1 new, 1 used. The used was definitely a good deal on an impossible to find gun. But the new one was about $150 more than what a regular gunshop would have priced it at.

I've only ever purchased one firearm from Gander Mt. I got my Mossberg 500 JIC setup from them. I had initially decided on purchasing a different gun but after waiting over an hour and hearing them talk about how they messed up the transfer when they bought it used, I told them I was no longer interested. The manager was apologizing so I used the opportunity to haggle them down to a reasonable price on the JIC setup.

I have gone in really wanting ammo and walking out because of my refusal to pay their prices. When I bought my last .38 spcl / .357 mag I found the exact same manufacturer's box of ammo at Dicks for nearly half the price. It was so much of a difference it actually bothered me that Gander's prices were set so high.

I know they can charge whatever they want but they have to accept that I can also bitch about it as much as I want. I'm the customer and I spend a lot of money on guns, ammo and accessories. It's unfortunate that it can't be with them.

Gander Mountain's new gun prices are high. Used run the gamut fro silly cheap to stupid high. If you know what gun you want and know the market for it, there's no harm in buying from Gander if price is right. I have scored about 6 killer deals on used guns at the York store in last 7 or so years.

And did pretty well there this afternoon

Picked up a VERY clean Remington 870 Police Magnum for $280 OTD. The guy behind the counter was cool and the check out was fast and painless. Sometimes you can find great deals.............
