Default Gander Mountain in Greensburg

Blah...don't bother going to Gander Mt. In Greensburg! I call them Greedy Mountain! I stopped last night to look at a few hand guns. After all, they do have a nice selection. I stood at the gun counter for 10 minutes staring at a 20 something sales dude. He was looking through a gun catalog and not once did he acknowledge that I was even standing there. He even walked into the back room at one point and finally came back out and asked me if I needed something! Although I wanted to say, "Yeah, I need to see your manager, skippy!", I refrained and asked to see the Walther P22. He proceeds to hand me the gun from the display case with a big 'ole honkin' trigger lock on it! I tried pathetically to wrap my big mits around the small hand grips to see how it fit. He said it was store policy to leave the lock on the gun. Ok, fine. I asked if they had a Sig Mosquito and he did, but it was in the back. He returns in a few moments with a factory pistol case, opens it up and hands me the Sig with no trigger lock! End result was the P22 was $299 and the Sig was $479...both guns were at least $50 more than my local shop. (The Sig slightly more!) I promptly thanked him and left the store.

Side note...the same Bushmaster I have was $1100 there! I didn't pay anywhere near that!

Conclusion...Gander is a nice place to look at a huge selection of guns, but the service is fairly poor, it's hard to look at the guns with those big trigger Locks and their pricing is higher than most small gun shops!

thanks for the heads up. though ive not been to the greensburg one, the one in robinson has been VERY helpful to me. im on a friendly bases with most of the gun staff. the prices are a little high on some stuff, ust gotta know what youre looking for. as for the trigger lock policy, ive never heard such a thing up there - that kid probably just didnt have a key or something. aw well.

I have had the same experience with the Gander Mountain in Greensburg. The one is West Mifflin has a much better staff as far as the firearms dept goes. I also have found that you can find firearms at better prices. Sporstmans Warehouse is a good store with a huge selection and decent prices.

It's irght off of the Camp Horn Run Rd exit on 279. The address is 250 Mt Nebo Rd Pittsburgh PA 15237. It's a little far but they have some of the best prices and a very big selection.

I asked the sells guy how it could go up that much.He said that they get lots of people saying that the prices are high. but they just set the prices at what they are told and cant do anything about it. Then he said every thing is going up in price. But he failed to say just more so here.

I personally would like to know how they justify there prices. Perhaps a letter to corporate is needed.
