Default ILA Sportsman's Service Center - West Chester - Closed???

I believe this shop is now closed, although their website is still active. I really liked this gun store, they're inventory was really low the last time I was in there, but I had bought 5 guns there in 2006. I was surprised they were never mentioned here as they were in a populated area in Chester County.

Any one else care to comment about this presumably now defunct store? Anyone know what the deal is with them?

I don't have first hand knowledge, but a close acquaintance that frequented their store reports the owner lost interest in the operation, and didn't have anyone in the wings to take over. Maybe someone closer to the operations can comment.

I stopped in a while back, I recall seeing plain generic 1911 magazines for over $28 or so. If that's any representation of their marketing, their demise isn't hard to understand.

I had a rifle I bought off the internet sent there back in Jan/Feb, and I remember there being almost no guns for sale. I thought it was pretty odd at the time.

I went back about a month ago to see if they had targets for sale, and the shop was empty. Not sure exactly what happened.

I think it might be closed. I've driven past it the last month a bunch of times and it has always appeared to be closed. Thanks for confirming what I thought.

They are definitely closed. I was there during their big sell off and was told it was a lease issue but that's just what one of their employees told me.

The guy that owned or helped me was very ignorant about guns. i wanted to ship a sxs coach gun to an FFL for an out of state sale and he didnt know if it was a NFA item or not. This was about 2 years ago. He busted my balls and had no clue about BBL length and over all length. I went home and printed out the ATF web pages to show him it was a regular sxs and he made a federal case out of it. I left and never went back in. He was a bumbling idiot in my book. I went to another shop they mailed it for me and no problems from sending FFL or receiveing FFL. I could care less he went down. He should know his business. sorry to say.
