<sigh>
Anyway...I'm done responding to your insults, gun_lawyer. You've won. So, I am totally wrong in my assumption I should get what I pay for, I should bend over and take whatever the seller feels right in stealing from me then give positive feedback that he obviously deserves. Waiting till buyer leaves positive feedback for the seller, no matter what seller does in transaction, is NOT feedback blackmail. Who else? Oh yeah...I get what I ask for because I did an online transaction. There was another...Right. That's life, and I'm just being welcomed to it. Lawyers are awesome. If not for lawyers, this world would be in terrible shape. Their charity, compassion, generousity, humility is the foundation for all that is good in society. We, as humble illiterate downtrodden, do so wish to thank you for all that you have done for humanity. Thank you. Thank you! God Bless your righteous soul, sir. Hmm..something is poking out the back of my shorts..what the..?? <--wet sucking sound as object is removed Last edited by QuakertownRich; July 6th, 2009 at 07:21 AM. |

However, I should point out that you unfairly accused Robert Kayland of taking an immoral stance purely out of self interest, to justify his insidious selling practices. And then you did the same to me, despite my telling you in advance that I never sell on Gunbroker, which might have been a subtle signal that I have no insidious selling practices to justify. Then you called me a thief and an evil lawyer. And now you feel that you've been insulted somewhere in this thread. Whatever. I guess what I have a basic problem with here is your issue with sellers waiting until the buyer leaves positive feedback, before the seller leaves positive feedback. You seem to believe that once the buyer has paid, there's no chance that he'll do something sneaky later. And to prove this theory, you plan to sneak in negative feedback at the last minute. I must be missing some critical piece of information here. Since buyers and sellers are free to alter their comments any number of times within the designated time frame mentioned in the link I gave you, what possible difference does it make who posts feedback first?

Well, first of all, let me say that GunLawyer001 is one of the best resources on this site, and arguably the best poster in re wit and style.
Well, okay, I like his politics too. My rep button broke on him long ago, and it's probably not until 2014 or so when I'll be allowed to rep him again for all the solid information and clever observations he posts on this board. Point is, any of the sort of criticism I see about him here is WAAAAY out of line. Not that he needs me sticking up for him... as all can see, he's more than able to defend himself... I just wanted to give a shout out against people getting out of line on an individual, because all-too-often we just sit on the sidelines and let the respective combatants have at it, without letting the one side or other know that they're not in the right. This is why my policy as a seller is to wait for the buyer to give feedback first so that I know he's satisfied or has communicated properly. |

Second, I agree with you, on eBay and on Gunbroker, although on Gunbroker the parties can play with their feedback for 90 days. I've never heard of a seller dicking around and making demands after he's shipped. I've heard of many instances of buyers playing games after receiving their items. So the deal is never done until the buyer is happy. I have perhaps 700-800 completed deals on Web auction sites, most of them as a buyer (on Gunbroker, all of them as a buyer). Speaking as a buyer, I have no problem leaving honest feedback first. Sellers need it more, since anyone can decide to avoid a seller by not bidding, while sellers can be forced to deal with any bidder who hasn't been so bad that they've been suspended. I've only had to leave negative feedback a handful of times, and on Gunbroker it was eventually removed by site staff, because the sellers were suspended for their misdeeds.
