I didn't read all 7 pages but I have NO IDEA why some complain of the price of their guns? Cabelas will price match anyone within 50 or so miles! All you have to do is bring proof or have them call the other gun shop.

Last Satruday I went up there and bought a Benelli Nova and the new Taurus 709 Slim - I had Cabelas price match both guns to the bottom line price I could find out of the 18 shops I called prior to heading up. Further more, I had $20 in Cabelas Buck's points I used and I had a $20 off $150 coupon which I used. This brought the price down much lower then any other store and I got points for my purhcases!

I did this on 8/1 - I get home and guess what I have in the mail I have another promotion for $150 off 500+ or $250 off 1000+ - so I call them and tell them that when I got home I had a new promotion that I would have used, they told me to bring the reciept and promotion and they would honor it. I'm heading up Wednesday.

Now ... when you factor that all in I got $40 off instantly, a $150 gift card, Points added to my Cabelas card all the while getting the guns at the bottom line price I found at other stores.

As much as I want to help the little guy, Cabelas always takes care of me.

p.s - Bass Pro sucks.

Another issue I guess is that it must cost a hell of a lot more to run / staff / stock their stores compared to the average mom/pop gun shop so there is no way to compete on price alone.

I never used the price match but the 150 off deals or the 150 in gift cards is impossible to beat

But see, we are talking discounts and coupons. Without those, would you buy a gun there? I would hope not. (I have myself, used coupons there before) Like I said in another thread (I think), I bought my XDM-40 brand new for around $560... I was curious and checked Cabelas next time I was there, and they wanted around $680 for a USED one. Yes, if you shop on sale, you can find some bargains, but for your everyday gun buying, I wouldn't recommend it unless you have nowhere else to go. Yes, it is a novelty store.. and yes, it has everything you need. It's great, I know.. I go there VERY often. But as far as gun buying? Know what you want and do some homework first.
The ammo used to be cheaper there also, but has increased. I will say, I usually order bulk through Cabelas. However, individual boxes, no. Last time I checked, they want avg. around $25 for a box of 180gr .40s&w... I get them from my dealer for around $15.

Like I said, sale=peachy... no sale=well...no sale.

Yes, they still price match and then give you $5 off that. Plus you have 30 days to return the gun. And still, I get double the points on my Cabelas card. Where else could I do that?

Ohh, I will agree on the Ammo - they are higher there. But I bet they would price match that as well if you could prove it! Ya just have to know how to work the system and you will do so so so much better there then anywhere else.

And for the record I don't think there ever is a time where I don't have a promotion for more then a week or two at a time. Granted they are not always for $100+ but they always are $20+.

Yea, I was speaking price match aside.. however, someone posted a little while ago about them not price matching.. so I just wanted to be sure, they do price match?

Sorry for the confusion!

They did for me on Saturday August 1st. They price matched a Benelli Nova shotgun to a local dealer from Lancaster County - and they price matched the Taurus 709 Slim to Bass Pro (Your asking why Bass Pro!? they were the only one other then Cabelas who had the gun in stock).

There are some stipulations: the shop that you are price matching must have the EXACT same model in stock, and they must be within 60 miles of Cabelas, and it has to be the listed price - not a price with a coupon, gift card, etc.

Ohh and when the gentlemen came back out from the back (doing the price match) he beat both guns by $5, which was nice.

No need to apologize, were all friends!

Ok, so that must be where the stipulation comes in, with the 60 miles.. Gotcha!! Thanks.

I've bought one of my shotguns, and .357 from there.. but the shotgun was on sale, and using a coupon, and the .357 was with a trade in..

That being said, we had a collectors Remington model 7mm-Wby Mag... My father won it years back, and we never used it (it had the light barrel on it and all).. Nobody else was really interested in doing anything with it, so we decided to see what Cabelas would offer us. They offered us a decent deal for it (wasn't the best, but we were kinda locked with what to do with it) so we put the money towards the .357

So if you have something you don't know what to do with it, and just want to get what you can for it, Cabelas will most likely take it. Just be ready that you probably wont get exactly what you want for it..
