Fun place to visit but don't look for bargains.
Gander Mtn is another........guns are much easier to handle than at Cabela's. This is especially good for shotguns where the fit is critical. Have never priced shopped at Gander so I can't say if they are competitive or not. |

I have only window shopped and observed on going sales to a minor degree.
Tagged prices were HIGH, I saw no reduction the negotiated in sales I observed, about 6. I would suspect used guns may be negotiable, just the nature of the beast. |

I bought a few rifles from them, and the prices were about right. I saw a winchester model 70 that was a little dusty,so I figured I would see if the manager would wanna finally get rid of it. So he knocked 50 bucks off of it. I always though their prices were high, but I'm not an expert.

The only firearm I've bought there so far was my Remington 700 XCR in .338RUM. I paid $750 for it. That is about average I found and the only other place locally that could have...or rather offered to order one was Sportsmens on 130 in NJ. Same price.
Personally, I love the place. My kids love the aquarium. My wife actually enjoys going there and shows some interest in the outdoors while there!

Prices are high, very crowded even early in the morning-took over an hour and a half to complete the paperwork, finalize the sale after I told the clerk I want to buy it.
I have also sold a shotgun to this Cabellas, and was pretty dissappointed with the offer. Not a friendly environment. Mark |

Cabela's is more like disneyland or some tourist attraction than offering hunters/campers/fisherman great prices.. anyone whose a hunter/camper/target/ rec shooter know what they want when they go into a shop like this but, for those unfamiliar with the wonderful world of Cabela's I can appreciate there efforts to draw in the crowds.

The best thing I can say about Cabelas is that when I'm home and not in Iraq, and someone asks me where I live, it makes an excellent reference point............"I live 5 minutes from Cabelas on old 22"..........aside from that you can keep the overpriced, uninformed sales-staff having place.
If I want to visit a museum of firearms in a friendly environment I'll head down to Johns at Seneca or Daves in Quakertown. |

You will find some good deals at Cabelas. I was looking online for a Kimber .22LR rifle. Hamburg's Cabelas happened to have a Model 82 for $150 less than the cheapest one I saw around (with a crack in the stock, too!). The gun I purchased came with scope mounts and rings. The used guns in the Gun Library are cleaned and oiled before they are placed on sale. One point to consider: when you transfer a gun from one Cabelas store to another, you do not have to pay the PA transfer fee. You do, however, have to pay for shipping the gun to the Hamburg location, which is less than the transfer fee.
