Guys, the reason Cabelas' prices are a bit high is because they have so many coupon specials during the year (e.g., Buy $500, get $150 back) and the usual 2% back on the credit card.

Get one of their Visa cards, use it for everything else in life, like you would any other credit card, and at the end of the year you have a free gun.

/a really nice free gun!

There prices are highe because it has to do with over head and that whole, instant gratification of ones self that says i will pay a lot more now to get it then pay less to order from my local shop and wait a week.
plus they can charge whatever they want because they know they'll get it period.

I agree....that guy in the wheelchair is great. I forget his name...he does know alot about reloading & helped me with my 1st set up. Spent a lot of time with me answering all kinds of questions....and he did so very happily. Very knowledgeable & very nice....he seems to really enjoy his job (how many of us can say that?)!![/quote]

Hey Quad,

That guy is really good ... a great asset to the store and to go at things like he does with the Physical Disabilities he has ... wow, I guess we should all be grateful, huh.

If you ever get a chance to talk to him, ask him about hunting ... when he's done telling you how he gets out and all the hassle he go's thru for a sport he loves you'll walk away sayin' ... " Man, I'll never bitch about another ache or pain "

" Quadzilla " ... do you ride ? ... got a 650 CanAm .. love it !

Well, the overhead is part of it too, obviously... especially those fish tanks.

But I seldom find the guns I want cheaper at a local shop, especially special orders... IF the local shop can even get it within a reasonable amount of time.

Then your at the wrong shops. My fiancee used to work there and the mark up is out ragous, she would get firearms once a year she could buy it at cost, and there have been times when i picked up a Bushmaster that they were selling for 1,100dollars ishe paid 600.00 its crazy and not worh it. besides their deals are only when they want to drum up business, for they never lose money when they give even the steepest discounts on anything.

Precisely. There has been VERY seldom times I have found things more expensive at small shops.

It's going on now. And you get $250 off $1,000. I already used mine and am looking for another.

Ohh and to everyone still complaining about the mark up, PRICE MATCH - find that lower price at a local shop - then go to Cabelas where they will BEAT the price. It's the only way to buy a gun there because they are over priced. That being said if your not lazy you can get a better deal there then anywhere else.

Ohh well to each his own, as long as we are all happy buying guns

1911S - I wasn't attacking you - just letting people know about the price match that most don't know about. If you have certain local shops that your comfortable with thats all that matters. Heck if you can find a place that price matches Cabellas's price match then I'd drive even further to get there!
