Fellow Zombie Hunters,

We will be hosting our second annual Zombie Shoot on Saturday, October 24th 2009 at the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club in Northampton Township, Bucks County PA. Here is our initial infomercial on the shoot:

2009 Zombie Shoot Video

We have spent time listening to what you want in a Zombie Shoot and what you don't. Here are three of the major things we learned from your comments:

1. You do not like long lines and long waits between shooting evolutions.
2. You want and expect the range staff to be into the theme of the shoot.
3. You like theatrics and expect all the shooting evolutions should reflect the theme.

Well we heard you at LRGC!

To deal with the lines, we will be limiting the number of shooters at this event. This way we can better manage the flow of the event and limit the waiting. As to our staff and their commitment to the theme, well hopefully the video above gives you a peak into how we plan on running this event. Due to the success of last year's shoot, we have doubled our budget for props, targets and "theatrics" this year. We will also have a prizes for best zombie hunter outfit and best zombie hunting couple. So feel free to bring along your significant other. I'll have more details on this later.

I will post information in this thread as soon as our registration is open. So please check back periodically. We will be requiring pre-registration for this shoot and there will be no walk-on's permitted. Once we sell out, you will be placed on a waiting list. So my suggestion is don't snooze on the registration if this type of shoot is of interest to you.

For those traveling from out of town, we will be working with local hotels in the area to offer discounts to shoot participants. More on that later. For those planning to fly in, either Phila or Newark airports would be suggested. We will have food & drink available for purchase. For safety reasons, alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

If you have any questions please feel free email me at lastdefender@aol.com Also, if you are a vendor and interested in setting up a table at this shoot let me know.

Get Ready...They're Coming,

Gary

UPDATED INFORMATION 7/24/09

Fellow Zombie Hunters,

We are planning to open up registration on August 24th. I will post the link to this thread when it's open. Unlike the DPMS event is St. Cloud, we will have a limited number of shooting spots available. The reason for the delay on registration is the overwhelming response from those wanting to provide sponsorship, door and raffle prizes etc. So the delay has allowed us to provide more cool stuff for you!

Take Care,
Gary

Your 5 hours away. But I have some family out that way I could visit and make this shoot. Looks like it will be a blast.

We will be setting up registration in about thirty days. Let me know what your schedule looks like. We will work with you as you are the very reason we can have a shoot in the first place. On behalf of all of us at LRGC, thank you for your service to our Country.

Regards,
Gary

Does this look familiar?

We permit SBRs, SBSs, and suppressors at LRGC. Sadly, we do not allow .50 BMGs. Full autos can only be fired in semi mode and then only if they are duty weapons issued to a bonafide LEO. As for DDs if it's a shotgun fine, but no mortars, bazokas etc.

I do miss those Root Shoots and hope that Mr. Root is doing well.

Hope to see you again soon.....

Gary

Root is doing pretty good, one kid plus another in the works! Maybe I will come down to see you some time!

What time does the shoot usually start and end?

I am not missing this one

Can you post the general guidlines when you get a chance.

Last year was carbine, rifle, and pistol?

It wil give me an excuse to get out and start sighting in.

My wife said she will come but will not dress up

73,

We are still working out the final details but this year we are for sure adding a shotgun stage! This was by popular demand of the event participants. So you will need a centerfire magazine fed rifle, a pistol and a shotgun for this year's event!

I estimate we'll get going around 0900hrs. I would plan on being at LRGC no lter than 0830hrs. We'll be posting details confirming the exact time when we post the registration link.

I'm sorry to hear your wife doesn't want to dress up as we have a prize this year for the best Zombie Hunting couple. (signifant other's do not need to shoot in order to qualify) Perhaps you'll convince her to get with the theme!

Yay, shotgun stage! Had lots of fun at this one last year, looking forward to this again.

Suggestions (hopes) for this year.

- Dedicated pistol stage: we had only one stage where a pistol could be fired last year and that was realistically only at one target at the end of the stage. I would love to see a pistol stage - even if its just something small.

- No archery stage: I realize that you try to keep everyone moving and doing something at all times, and your archery range was an attempt to keep it fluid. But hardly anyone (in my group) was that into it, and many volunteered to just get their cars and run down the targets

- more 'Reactive' targets: Those hanging foam blocks worked well, but some simple metal plates would be great too. I realize of course they would get chewed to pieces by the rifles, but maybe some folks have scrap steel or insights on how to do it on the cheap? Shooting at 100/200 yard paper targets is fine, but its definitely cool when you hear that 'PANG' of a steel plate being smacked to let you know you connected.

In any event, the 'mobile' stages were lots of fun and really spiced up the whole event.

Look forward to it!
