Fellow Zombie Hunters,

We will be hosting our second annual Zombie Shoot on Saturday, October 24th 2009 at the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club in Northampton Township, Bucks County PA. Here is our initial infomercial on the shoot:

2009 Zombie Shoot Video

We have spent time listening to what you want in a Zombie Shoot and what you don't. Here are three of the major things we learned from your comments:

1. You do not like long lines and long waits between shooting evolutions.
2. You want and expect the range staff to be into the theme of the shoot.
3. You like theatrics and expect all the shooting evolutions should reflect the theme.

Well we heard you at LRGC!

To deal with the lines, we will be limiting the number of shooters at this event. This way we can better manage the flow of the event and limit the waiting. As to our staff and their commitment to the theme, well hopefully the video above gives you a peak into how we plan on running this event. Due to the success of last year's shoot, we have doubled our budget for props, targets and "theatrics" this year. We will also have a prizes for best zombie hunter outfit and best zombie hunting couple. So feel free to bring along your significant other. I'll have more details on this later.

I will post information in this thread as soon as our registration is open. So please check back periodically. We will be requiring pre-registration for this shoot and there will be no walk-on's permitted. Once we sell out, you will be placed on a waiting list. So my suggestion is don't snooze on the registration if this type of shoot is of interest to you.

For those traveling from out of town, we will be working with local hotels in the area to offer discounts to shoot participants. More on that later. For those planning to fly in, either Phila or Newark airports would be suggested. We will have food & drink available for purchase. For safety reasons, alcohol is not permitted on the premises.

If you have any questions please feel free email me at lastdefender@aol.com Also, if you are a vendor and interested in setting up a table at this shoot let me know.

Get Ready...They're Coming,

Gary

UPDATED INFORMATION 7/24/09

Fellow Zombie Hunters,

We are planning to open up registration on August 24th. I will post the link to this thread when it's open. Unlike the DPMS event is St. Cloud, we will have a limited number of shooting spots available. The reason for the delay on registration is the overwhelming response from those wanting to provide sponsorship, door and raffle prizes etc. So the delay has allowed us to provide more cool stuff for you!

Take Care,
Gary

It seems like this needs to be done at a bigger club, or something. Having hundreds of people get left out just doesn't seem right. I mean, I was in class. I'm sure other people were at work.

This means that you shouldn't cry and blame someone else. Instead, you should get out to your local range and try to set one up. Take it upon yourself to find a bunch of buddies and get one organized. Telling someone else "they need to do this", or "they need to do that" isn't right. I'm just glad "they" made the effort in the first place.

Maybe word will get around on its on about what a great shoot this is. But if it doesn't, you need to be the one spreading that word. You, Me, and everyone else. Let other ranges know how popular it was. Maybe we need to offer to help organize it.

I'm sure the people at Langhorne will give you as much info as they can to help you get one started someplace else. Like I said before. A Zombie League would be really cool. If the Cowboy Shoots work. A Zombie Shoot should catch on too.

Potty Mouth....

Well, I might be if I don't make it in.

But I have contacted my local range and told them about this shoot. Told them how fast registration went. Told them how many great prizes they have. Told them about people on a waiting list. And then I offered to help try to set one up at our home range. It's a start I guess.

When the Zombie League starts, we will know we had a hand in it.

My problem is... When I would just mention having a "Special Zombie IDPA Match" I get looked at like I'm really messed up.

Oh, well, guess I keep trying. And maybe crying, if I don't get in on this one in Langhorne.

Yahoo! I'm In.

Just got confirmation that I made it in the top 100. Guess sitting in front of the computer telling eveyone in the family to stay awayand be quite has paid off.

Off to get a money order to send in. Don't want to wait around and mess that one up now.

Dave,

Believe me I really regret that we have to put a limit on registration. I studied the comments of those who attended the DPMS Zombie event in St. Cloud this year. In that shoot, there was no registration. Hundreds of people showed up and spent hours in line. The number one complaint was the incredible wait time.

We made an executive decision to favor quality over quanity. We elected to limit the number of registered shooters and hopefully enhance the overall shooting experiance. To give you a little peak behind the curtain, we started planning 2009 Zombie back in mid February. We've spent hundreds of hours so far in planning meetings, advertising, construction/labor details, vendor relations and negociating with the Club to allow us to host this event. Sadly most private clubs in the Philly area would never tolerate such an event on their property.

In the end, we will have invested well over a 1000 hours of volunteer time and many more thousand dollars in material costs to produce this shoot. We do this because we want to and we enjoy hosting this type of event. If I had a 500 acre range and a staff of 50 to run the event.....WOW what an event we could produce. In the end, I have a very nice 60 acre range in the middle of suburban Philadelphia that still permits semi-auto rifles and events like Zombie 2009.

I did my very best to make registration as fair as possible. I had the link on only one board so as not to favor any particular forum. I posted the link exactly when I said I would and gave weeks worth of notice. I even told everyone that based on all the email I was receiving that the event would sell out quickly and that if you wanted in, be ready to go at 8:00pm sharp. I really don't know what more I could have done?

I hope you will consider visiting the shoot as all are welcome and there is no charge to non-shooting guests. Just be sure to bring eye and ear protection.

Regards,
Gary

Got my confirmation today too

Looks like I better get sighted in and start getting stuff ready............

The thing I liked most about this was the "No waiting for stages". Sure there may be some delays, but I dont want to spend my whole day waiting to shoot. Been there and done that. I only get to 2-3 shoots a year. Quality is my preference.

I missed last year as well because I got lazy.

There will always be next year for those that can't make it this year.

Thanks for putting this together, see you on the 24th!

PS,

Will there be any more details on the stages for magazine loads?

Is rifle = 150 rds = 5 - 30 rd mags fully loaded?
Shotgun = 40 rds = 4 10 rd mags or 2 20 rd drums?
Pistol = 50 rds = 5 10 rd mags or 3 15 rd mags & a downoaded one?

This would help in organizing what to bring.

Thanks again!
