Hi,

This month we will be running the NJSP Patrol Rifle Qual Course as a match. We've done the 50Y CQB CoF but this one goes out to 100Y. There are standing, kneeling, and prone shots with position changes involved. This match is great for newer shooters as well. Targets will be either IDPA or reduced B-27. It will be shot as a common firing line per relay with one shooter at a time firing on the clock. Three 20 round magazines are required. You will be required to shoot to slidelock and reload.

Any modern sporting rifle may shoot the course. We will recognize 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place shooters in the following categories:

1 - Iron sights (non-kalashnikov)
2 - Red Dot
3 - Magnified optic
4 - Kalashnikov

There are three shooting relays available. 0830, 1100, and 1300. 0830 helps with setup, 1300 helps clean up. Does that mean that 1100 fills up first? ;-)

You may register twice if you want to shoot two different firearm/optic classes, but you must fire the second round with a later relay.

Online registration is required.

Thanks, and hoping to see you out there with us!

i hadn't heard about other gear being allowed, but if you click the google documents link for the course of fire it lists the time limits for each stage, if that has any factor on your usage of a bipod.

Seeing as the is a carbine type COF, I would think that bipods are not allowed for 100 yard shots. Fargo doesn't allow them when shooting 300yrd moving targets with a carbine so 100 yrd stationary is probably a no go.

Based on Freddy's spreadsheet description for the Course of Fire of only up to 100 yards:

I would recommend the following equipment:

1. You (fully clothed please)
2. Bullets and those things that hold them.
3. Rifle (to dispense the bullets) with iron sights or those glass thingamabobs that some of you old guys use
4. Hot Cocoa

The ground, and gravitational forces to aid you in standing, kneeling, or laying on it, are supplied at the event.

Hmm... if you couldn't tell already, I'm new. Not to guns, just any competition. So you're tellin' me, if I have a folding bipod on that bad boy, I would be accosted for its use? All I think it would do is give me some darn good shots.

but not using it requires you to use basic shooting fundamentals, sorta levels the playing field.

As far as bipods go on carbine courses of fire, the answer is :

"Negative GhostRider....."
