Default Sig or Smith AR

I am going to buy an AR in the next week or two. I am trying to decide between the Sig 556 or the Smith & Wesson M&P15T.

I have never bought anything like this before and it will be my first AR. I will be the first to tell you I dont know much about them. But since I saw the 556 at a show i have wanted one real bad.

The SIG is a well engineered, high quality AK with a correspondingly high price point.

Get a Colt 6920.

Thumbs down Re: Sig or Smith AR

The S&W MP15 seems overpriced.

Hello,
My Opinion, Both are over priced for what you get. They both look nice though. The trigger on the Sig is GREAT. Not much in aftermarket acc. for the Sig. You could build one heck of an AR for the price of either. For that price I'd by a SA Socom. Or one AK and build a SBR AR-15.
Having said that. Either of your choices would be great 223's. Whichever floats your boat.
Let us know which one you bought.

You can get a Colt 6920 for less than that.

I'd start here: http://www.AR15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=4&t=226782

If you buy used and look for good deals, you could build a real nice AR for less than half your limit. The equipment exchange at the above forum is a good place to find a deal.

I can speak for the Sig 556 since I actually own one. I paid $1199.00 for mine, it already has accessory rails built into it and It's been a great shooter for me. The model I have did not come with sights but there are models that do. I have a couple hundred rounds through mine with no failures of any kind.
