Default I have a few questions

I hope this is the right place to post, but I have a few questions. I'm looking into buying a rifle and I wanted to ask around and knowledge myself a little better. I wanted to know if I would be permitted (Being almost 20) to buy a rifle similar to an ar15. My buddy had one and it seemed like a very respectable rifle to own. Now me being almost 20, would I be able to purchase one of these. I know I have to go to the courthouse and get an application and all that paper work. But if and when I get permission from the state of Pennsylvania. Where can I go to buy one? Website? And if anyone has any advice for me please let me know. Thanks alot guys, hope to hear from you soon.

In PA your allowed to by a rifle soo youll be fine getting an AR15 and you dont have to go to the courthouse or anything, you simply go into a gun shop of your choice and do about a page of questions then theyll do a background check which takes all but 5 min. and then youll be good to go to buy it depending on the result of you background check. As for where to get one your looking a 900 and up at least where I live (delco) and online you'll have to pay the price of the rifle and also have it shipped to a dealer and pay they're fees which ussally are no more than $40.(Correct me if Im wrong someone) I do not do anything online except for parts and ammo soo Im not sure if thats the cheapest route for an actual rifle Im sure someone will chime in and let you know.

What kinda questions do they ask you? I'm 100% sure I'll pass the background check seeing as I've been a pretty good kid so far. I mean I'm looking at at gun similar to this http://www.impactguns.com/store/604206022301.html And where do you live in DELCO? I want to start going to the range and maybe if people are close enough we could all meet up and go. Thanks for your reply man starting to point me in the right direction.

The rifle you posted is not bad, yet you might as well get the "real" 16+ inch barrel to benefit from the additional velocity and accuracy afforded by such. The longer (generally speaking) a barrel, the more time the powder has to burn which increases velocity. (This does not apply in all cases, for example; pistol caliber rounds in a carbine may lose velocity due to the optimization of the cartridge for pistol barrels)

I recommend that you exercise the search function on this forum and spend a few hours reading about your rights as a PA resident. The more you know, the better off you will be.

Yeah the background checks over the phone and youll be fine then lol and the questionaire they ask you are you a citizen of the us, do you have any PFA'S or restraining orders against you, are you mentally stable stuff like that. I live in Ridley Twp, and as for ranges Phila. Gun and Archery is our best bet with rifles.

I'm not sure where prices are now, but around election time a Stag could be had for around $600 and the DPMS was about the same. Thats a good place to start. If you want to go all out you could go LMT or Colt, but be prepared to spend more. All told, you can end up with a $3000 rifle. Optics and all, mine was somewhere in that ballpark.

Again, this is something you can just go out and buy assuming you have no criminal record. Bring your driver's license and cash.

This is the form you will have to fill out. http://www.thundertek.net/documents/4473.pdf

Yeesh, the misinformation passed around this state keeps my mind oscillating.

You won't find a reliable AR for under 500 dollars, period.

For under 500 however, you can buy a brand new AK and almost enough left over to buy 1 case (1,000 rounds) of ammo.

If you're on a budget, roll with the AK.

If you want to get into the AR field, start your budget off at a minimum of $1,000 for a high quality rifle. You can buy a Stag or Bushmaster AR for around 900, but for 200 more you could get a Colt 6920, which is the rifle they make for law enforcement and military.

You're not getting off to a good start.

Steve gave you great advice when he recommend that you read up on things here....

I would love a sub $500 AR that ran. But in the famous words of Ari Gold - "I wanna **** Angelina Jolie. The only difference is, I might actually have a shot."

So far, every question you've asked has an answer to it, on these forums. Just look around, and I bet you'll find what you're looking for.

Check out King Shooting supply in KOP. They are good people and will take the time to answer all your questions. You can get a entry Rock River for less then a grand. Ammo aint the cheapest, but start shopping around at WalMarts. Or find some PMC for about 8$ a box - 55gr PMC shoots great in my RRA.
