Default going rate for a Handi Rifle?

I am looking for the ultra lite synthetic model in .223, have been quoted $250, do you think this is fair?

Thats right in the ballpark.

It's hard to haggle on the price of a $250 rifle. If you can get it closer to $230 you got a deal.

that's true, I imagine there is not much markup on something at that price point. they're pretty nice for the price as I understand. .17HMR is just not cutting it for groundhogs.

My friend got a NEF Handi in .223 with a bull barrel and wood stock for $199 at the gun shop in town here. That was last year though.

The wood stocks are cheaper compared to the synthetics. I like the Survivor models with the fluted barrel.

If you can afford it, step up to the H&R Ultra...basically the same rifle, but with better wood. I had one that shot .75 and better...for a $250 used rifle it was definately a precise weapon.

I have the Suvivor model with a bull barrel though it's not fluted. Neat gun, I think I paid around $200 (used) with a nice Swift 6x18 scope....it was probably a pretty good deal.

$250 is a tad higher than what you used to be able to get them at Walmart for, but over all it is a fair price. I've paid $189 to $289 for basic NEF rifles, not counting Ultras and Buffalo Classics.

You'll find that for the most part, that $250 was well spent.

how do you like the shorter length of pull? any eye relief issues? I am leaning more towards the Survivor as my arms aren't that long, and if for no other reason than it's smaller and looks cooler.

I like the fit and feel, it points well too. I'm 6'1" with longer arms and it fits nicely without any eye relief issues.

OK good, one last question, can the hammer extension be flipped to accomodate a left-handed shooter? Considering getting one for my dad too.
