Default Winchester Model 70, Featherweight .300 WSM

Father's Day landed me a Winchester Model 70, Featherweight .300 WSM (can't wait to see what she buys me when she turns two! )

It's my first Model 70 and the first I really heard of .300 WSM. It has a "pre 64 type bolt" which it seems is a good thing. Anybody with one? thoughts?

Nice looking rifle, very light and beautiful walnut wood.

I like how Winchesters shoot, but that FL is going to beat you up shooting the WSM. The barrel contour is a bit thin to have a VAIS brake installed too. I still have some factory WSM ammo if you are interested. I sold my WSM rifle, but forgot I had ammo for the rifle.

You have yourself one fine daughter. HAHA

They put a Pachmayr Decelerator recoil pad on only WSM models, I think I may be a little scared now! May take you up on the ammo. Let me know. Stopped by Wally World to pick up a box of Winchester .300 WSM 150 grain Supreme Ballistic SilverTip for $ 1.75 per round (incl. tax)

I don't see this as a 100 rounds at the range type of rifle but the light weight may be nice for carry in the woods.
