Default AR Build: Which FUFS (Front Flip Up Sight)?

OK, I'm modifying a Colt HBar II that I bought several months ago.

I took off the carry handle to get to some flap=topped goodness. I have a GG&G MAD BUIS coming for the rear, and am going to be selecting/mounting some sort of optics and rail soon.

But I'm wondering what FUFS to go with. Troy, PRI, YHM, any advice from those in the know?

I'm planning on largely shooting 100m and under with irons.

FUFS? Fuggedabouted.

Use the OEM fixed front sight. It won't "be in the way". The reflex sights (red dots) co-witness and you won't see the front sight tower through a powered optic.

Deploying a FUFS if you're optic goes down is not nearly as quick and forgiving as deploying a BUIS. And if you have to deploy both in an emergency you'll be WAY behind the curve.

I agree with Tony about the A2 front sight will work for most AR15 folks, but some prefer the smooth lines of the flip up sights. I have had both set ups on my AR15s, so it all boils down to personal preference.

Do you already have the railed gas block or are you going to be buying one? YHM makes a gas block that has flip up sights as well.

As far as which front flip up BUIS are concerned...they are all pretty good...Troy, MI, GG&G, YHM. So buy which ever one you can afford. I also have the MAD rear BUIS and I like them a lot.

Have you seen the KNS crosshair front post? I have it on my AR15 becaues I don't like iron sights and I have difficult times using the standard front post.

Thanks, gentlemen. I think I'll hold off on a FUFS for now, get some more experience with my optics and then see where I am. I appreciate the experience . . . especially when it saves me money!
