Newbie alert - New Marlin 60 1st time shooting Evaluation
Took my new Marlin 60 to the range today for the 1st time. Started with inexpensive Remington "Golden Bullet". The first two tubes had a couple of jams, but after that it cycled flawlessly, shooting about 100 rounds.
Next I tried the more expensive Winchester "Super X" & it jammed on every round????? (The person next to me was also shooting a Marlin 60, I handed him a box & it jammed his as well) No Matter how much I tried I could not get these to cycle at all. ( Also made the mistake of buying a box of 500)
The last cartridge I tried was the " CCI Stinger" these worked flawlessly, but I was told by the folks at the range that they are "too hot" for the 60. They recommended the CCI Standard load.
The 60 is really a fun gun to shoot, I like the way it fits me as well. I haven't got it sighted in yet since I used up my hour fiddling with the different ammo.
Any thoughts, comments or recommendations on the above will be greatly appreciated, with me being a newbie to this. Thanks
