Yeah I know, I didn't mean to imply that. I wasn't referring to you with the purist comment though. I just hear people badmouthing Colt because they're expensive. Yes they carry a premium, does everyone want to pay it? No. I do not understand the reason people will call them junk, they are not and it irritates me when people make that claim. I'm not saying that they are the best out there either, everyone has different needs and there are a plethora of quality makers out there these days, telling people that a well known and established manufacturer of firearms is junk serves no discernible purpose that I can see.
He's asking what are his options for a quality lower that he can more easily afford. Telling him that Colt is junk is untrue and does not help him with what he is looking for.

The most recently produced 6920's have small milspec pins and not the large pins found on older Colts.

Same on the 6940 from what I've recently read.

Colt Defense guns have always used standard takedown pins, all the bitching about pin sizes comes from the Colt Commercial guns, not the Colts people are buying today (6920, 6940, 6520, etc).

I think I got the subject confused for a second.

As far as I know the takedown pins have been the same, but the trigger and hammer pins are different.

http://www.ar15.com/forums/topic.htm...f=118&t=453631

Some have hammer/trigger pins which are .154 and some have .170 pins. Supposedly serial no. 58XXX and above have small pins.

I need to take a mic to my 6920.

My Colt H-Bar is running a second in quality to my Les Baer NRA Match. Of course the Baer costs quite a bit more. The Colt is far and away better then any other make I have shot or handled ( except for Baer).
Junk? I think not.
