If you are looking at any number of the variations of the MP 15's that are available I would say that they are. Based mainly on a friend or two that I know that have them and like them. They don't abuse them, or try to win awards with them. They just shoot the shit out of them and don't have problems and maintain good to good + accuracy.

That IMO makes it a good rifle. That and honest to god, if you are staring one in the face right now with how fast they are disappearing - its "A" rifle you won't be waiting 12-26 weeks for. If you are on the fence get off. It might not be there long.

From all reports that I've read, S&W makes a great AR.

Thumbs up Re: smith and wesson ar 15

I have an M&P 15 upper that I slapped onto a lower that I built from a multitude of different manufacturers' parts. I am quite fond of the M&P 15 upper.

All the parts are machined well, and I have no reason to believe that it is substandard in any way. It seems to be as accurate as any 16" with similar specs that I've shot. It has a chrome lined chamber/barrel, and it has a nicer finish on the receiver than is offered by many manufacturers.

It's not top of the line, but then again, you wouldn't be asking about it if you were in the market for high end.

They are good to go. They are in the neighborhood of Stag Rock River and Bushmaster in my opinion do not hesitate to get one.

I never considered that he might be staring one in the face, but whether or not it's a quality rifle would certainly be some useful knowledge, in that circumstance!

I have a S&W M&P-15A, it is an outstanding rifle. I have never had an issue with it. I've fed it a steady diet of Wolf and some Winchester I had, never had a FTE or FTF that I couldn't blame on the lacquer on the Wolf. Looks good, built good, great price (Jan, 2008). I wouldn't say no to another. I do have a RRA (13 weeks so far), only because S&W doesn't make a 9mm.
