Went to the range today. Took the old AR, the AK and SKS (neither one had been shot) and something new. 1874 Sharps.
My impressions are these The AR is a pleasure to shoot lays them in there one after another. I did not bring enough 223 The ak is a pain in the trigger finger. Really. My finger hurt after 5 rounds. I am going to take a good look at the trigger to find out why. It needs a better pistol grip. I like my SKS better than the AK Although it shoots a little to the right. The Sharps is the BOOMER of the bunch. the 45-70 is big compare to the ak round and dwarfs the 223. Where the other rounds crack when shot the 45-70 sound is a boom. One thing I did find out. I had to look over my right shoulder to find the 223 casings. The ak rounds hit the ceiling of the shelter and bounced in to the two garbage cans. The one thing I did not like about the SKS its casings rain down on my head and shoulders. Of course the Sharps was easy 1 in 1 out. All told a great day 67 degrees and a slight wind from the south. 70 223 130 7.62X39 20 45-70 Thats all I could find that I knew was safe for the Sharps
