I have a chance to buy one of these, not the one on this site but was trying to find out more about it. Just not finding anything, prices, collector value/rarity, if they were accurate, famous for anything etc.

It's an M91/30. That price is very very high. Obviously he's advertising it as a WWII rifle and not the actual model number to trick some fool. I have two M44 (they have short barrels 16in I think and a folding attached bayonet). They are pretty accurate I'd have to say and a blast to shoot, literally. Ammo is dirt cheap, but corrosive. If you do pick one up and can afford it, pick up an authentic scope. They were used from WWII to Vietnam. Definately adds to the shootability as iron sights can be a bear ETA.... Link for parts breakdown, great resource http://7.62x54r.net/MosinID/MosinDisassembly.htm Last edited by KeithPA; April 26th, 2007 at 11:51 PM. |

Skuggi,
i'd look around. you can find these at local gun shows (harmarville, syrian shrine, washington co fg) for like $100. i picked up an m44 in awsome condition for like 110 out the door (with the "bag o accessories", and check fees included). if you cant wait till the next local show, you can always stop at a local dunham's sports; they always have them. ive seen price vary from 100 - 160 depending on condition/model. overall, its an awsome rifle. a great resouece site, too, is: http://www.russian-mosin-nagant.com/ i'd pick one up. i already have 2 and almost got another one at the last harmarville show (but didnt since im focused on getting a 1911 now... and hey, i already have 2 mosins, ha ha). like said they are inexpensive and literally a blast to shoot so go get one ;-) Last edited by bigjlen; April 27th, 2007 at 07:06 AM. |

I was shooting Joe Smith's M44 Mosin at the last pafoa group shoot (Pgh) and I must now have one.
I've heard reference of them kicking like a mule, but it wasn't as bad as I had anticipated. That muzzle flash is SPECTACULAR! BOOOOOM-FLASH!!! I'm surprised the Germans didn't drop their rifles and wave the white flag when that beast was being fired at them! Skuggi, if you're coming to the shoot, ask Joe Smith if you can test-drive his.

Agreed on both counts. It's a plain, garden variety 91/30, and doesn't come with accessories. His price is higher than an ex-sniper laminate. It never ceases to amaze me how people price stuff without marketing or sales experience.
I *may* be selling a PU-scoped (original set-up) 91/30 in the future if anyone's interested. PM me for details, as this isn't the place for an ad. |

Yep, it'll be there and anyone is free to shoot it. On the other hand the reason it didn't kick as bad is the cheapo recoil pad I slipped on. The first time I shot it with the metal plate it killed me. I'll try to get my brother to bring his so you can try both. Brian

Only because 27hand didn't uncase the Franken Mauser. EM, I promise I'll pull it out of the cartruck on Mothers Day [imgosting/thum_24][url=http://www.pafoa.org/forum/vbimghost.php?do=displayimg&imgid=1255]27
