HI, JUST TO LET ANYONE KNOW, I WAS JUST AT GANDER MT. IN WEST MIFFLIN AND SAW FOUR RUSSIAN RIFLES I THINK THEY SAID M44 7.62 X SOMETHING WITH BAYONTS FOR $99. I AM NOT A RIFLE COLLECTOR,BUT THESE LOOKED IN REAL NICE SHAPE AND THE BAYONETS FOLDED BACH ON THE RIFLE. JUST LETTING YOU KNOW THAT THEY HAVE THESE THERE. BOLT ACTION WOOD STOCKS LOOKED LIKE WW2 ERA. DON'T REALLY KNOW THOUGH

SIL & friend got one for $75 at the York gun show. I just got one Sat. at Stubbys shop in York County for $90. It a 7.62x54r, M44. They are fun shooters, they have a very loud report and you can feel the percussion even if you are to the rear of the shooter. I was surprized that they were in such good condition. I don't recall which country the ammo came from, we got it from the Sportsmans Guide, but it shots well and seems to be consistent. I have noticed that all 3 of them seem to shoot low and to the left. After checking the 3 we have are all Russian M44's from 1942-1944. They will pound your shoulder if you don't seat it right. We have one scoped now and are working on the 2nd one. Scopes with a long/extended eye relief work best.

Oh and the bayonets work well on stuffed animals...LOL

An M44 is my primary gun. Everything listed so far is true, they are great little shooters and the (surplus) ammo is cheap still. i just installed a red dot sight on mine, my brothers is still the iron sights. $100 isn't a bad price but you can find them cheaper. They are some of the best little guns for the money, and the reason I can afford to shoot so much on a limited budget.

OK admit it you saw me buy the M44 at stubbys and could not resist buying one yourself. He is a good guy to deal with and his prices are good.

Make sure you cover your ear good when you fire one of these babies, I have heard that this rifle is louder than the Jungle Carbine. And I have shot the Jungle carbine......almost bust my ear on it, he he he...

No I didn't see you buy yours, I got mine last Sat afternoon. I bought the last one he had that day, he said it was the second one he sold on Sat. You would have known I was there.. I drive the uglist chevy S10 there is.... it's painted like Jeff Gordons race car(old style). I can't stand him....But it runs like a charm, it's got 150,000 and is 23 years old, so I can't complain about the truck...
