Well, since this thread ain't about AK vs. AR, WHEW! anyway, I think any rifle that spits gas back into the chamber (direct infringement) get a vote of NO GO from me. Not bashing AR as I have shot many at the range. Them AR did jam on me on a few occasions......with that said, I would take an AK for SHTF situation, at least I know it goes BANG every time. To each his own, be safe.

I got a mini 14. And right now the only complaint is trying to find magazines for it. They are hard to find and expensive. I plan on putting a red dot on it. Any recommendations for this rifle.

Yeah, I have a suggestion;
Since it's so hard to find magazines, you might as well sell it, cheap!
Keep me in mind when you decide on a price.
Seriously speaking, I have two of 'em. I have cheap scopes on both and I happened upon a good deal on some mags a few years ago. I asked the shop owner if he had any, he said yes and pulled out a box with a bunch of mags from 10 - 40 round. He started telling me individual prices, I asked for a price on the lot, he said $75.00. I said I'll take it. He wanted to know what I was going to do with all of those mags. I said "Use 'em in my Mini-14". Some of them are original Ruger, some are after market, they all work well.
The guns aren't tack drivers, but they are reliable, fun to shoot and reasonably accurate. They are in original condition with the exception of putting a wooden stock on one of them and scopes on both. I haven't done anything to try to improve accuracy.
I have other guns for the days I feel like pinpoint accuracy.
My recommendation is to keep it and enjoy it. I can't recommend a scope because everyone has different needs. Cheap Tascos are working for me.
