Default AR-15 Upper Assemblies

Ok, so I went and ordered a PAFOA engraved lower from Anvil Arms on Monday and in the interest of time and simplicity they are installing the LPK, 6 position stock, and the pistol grip. I've looking at 3-5 weeks before the 'rifle' will ship to my FFL.
(Christmas gift from my wife! Thanks Duck! )

I'm starting to shop for upper assemblies now. Once again in the interest of simplicity I'm looking for complete assemblies. Who has the best balance of cost vs quality? I'd like to stay under $500 if possible. So, what am I looking for ... good question ... at this point I know I want a flat top as I already have a Bushy with an M4A2 fixed handle upper and I want to add optics to the new rifle. The Bushy is a 14.5" with a fixed flash hider to make 16.5" ... I'm thinking a 16 or 20" barrel on the new rifle.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Vendors to avoid?

Thanks!

Model 1 Sales... I have two of their uppers and both run fine, and the price was the lowest. Step up would be Stag, but price is higher.

You have the Anvil lower, maybe look into an Anvil upper assembly. That's what I did, total shipped was about $533 for a flat-top from them, nothing real fancy, but comes with a chrome lined barrel and M4 feed ramps and flash hider for that price.

Only problem is, I've been waiting to get mine for a while, as Jon is currenlty swamped with other orders and requests, as I'm sure a just about every other manufacturer is right now. To add to that, they've just moved into a new location as well, which delayed things a little more from what I've been told. Hopefully I will be getting everything shortly though.

I wasn't familiar with Model 1 Sales, I'll check them out!
I had been looking at Stag and Bushmaster so far.

Yeah, Anvil is swamped! Jon told me 48 hours just for the confirmation email and then 3-5 weeks before he has stock and ships on the lower assy. I'll check them out on uppers too.

BravoCompanyUSA.com Their BCM M4 upper is one of the best I've seen and is only $450. It has the railed upper, the finish on the barrel is applied before the front sight (the proper height F marked sight for the M4) so the barrel is completly protected and the extended M4 feedramps. they also have the Stag upper for $350 which is also an excellent upper.
