Default sar-1 performance and price

Just the other day, I was talking to someone about the differences between a wasr-10 and a sar-1. From what I heard it sounds like the sar-1 is considerably better. Would you guys agree? How common are sar-1 rifles in the U.S.? How easy is it to get accessories for the sar-1? What would be a good price for a sar-1 rifle?

Default Re: sar-1 performance and price

Go here for the rivet-by-rivet details of all Romy AKMs...

http://www.gunsnet.net/Linx310/

The SARs are the pre-cursors to the WASRs we have today. They were built with true mag-well dimpled AKM-type hi-cap recvrs, and not subjected to quick and dirty hi-capping like Century does to the sporterized WASRs. (Except for the WASR22 - a true, mag-well-dimpled AKM, as opposed to the safe-to-import sporty WASRs.)

By and large, the SARs tend to be a bit nicer than the more mass-produced, export-to-USA-as-fast-as-you-can-WASRs.
SARs also went to the back-burner for a bit in popularity, as one could get a far-better Century Yugo or AMD gun for not much more than a SAR, or if missing dimples is not an issue, a shoots-the-same WASR for much less.
