Cool AR-15 Roll Pin problems

Hello everyone. I recently purchased a Olypmic Arms SGW car-ar (ar-15). I found that when I got home that the forward assist did not work. I attempted to take out the pawl roll pin but it was stuck. I tried hammering it out, lubing it out, and drilling it out. I beat up the receive pretty bad and decided to purchase a whole new upper receiver because I need to have a workable forward assist on my weapon. Did anyone else have this problem before with the roll pins on the AR-15 or is it just me? Anyways take care my fellow Firearm owners.

Default Re: AR-15 Roll Pin problems

There are purpose built roll pin punches that have a small protuberance (nub) on the end. It fits inside the end of the roll pin and helps prevent buggering up the opening of the pin and keeps it from collapsing.
