Interesting. I take it you had a negative experience with a 91/30 sniper, and a good one with an SVD. Is this correct?

And why do you think those cost just under $4000 in the first place? That gun can make a grown man cry.

Not too many for sale that excludes the Tiger,Romanian or the Chinese version.A real Ruski Dragunov it's a keeper.

They are a tad expensive, but do occasionally surface.

Shouldn't let the kids play with it, tho. [8^)

Cost me $1400 without the extras that were another $275.As close as I could get to a Ruski Dragunov: Tiger Dragunov

Sold it for $1800 to finance other "projects".

Beautiful Dragunovs!, I don't know why they stop importing it. It got sort of a thumbhole stock and mag capacity of 10 rounds (which does not make it as "evil":P). Make a fine hunting rifle in my book.

Whatever you do DO NOT BUY the Romanian version that is called Romak-3 PSL.I had one for 1 DAY.Got it out of the package, put it back in and returned it.VERY POOR quality.I used the real Dragunov and AK-47,we called them AKM,back in the old country when I was in the military, but these civilian models look like an unfinished tire iron.

Hello Will,
I was just reading your thread on the Mosin Sniper. I hand picked a 91/30 at a gun show for $99. (not drilled and not a former sniper) I then purchased the scope and mount online from Ukraine, Russia for $179 plus $25 shipping. The optics are great and the mount is machined steel. Unfortunately, I recently took the rifle and scope to a gunsmith for mounting so I don't have it to look at now. But if memory serves me all the specs that were mentioned match. It is going to cost me another $100 or so to have the scope mount mounted and the stock cut to accomodate it. I realize that it is not an original sniper but as was mentioned in the threads is that all the parts will be authentic and it will be fun and cheap to shoot. So it will have cost me around $400 and I got to hand pick the rifle. Something to pass on to my son. Actually, we have worked together to come up with everything. When I get it back I will try to send you a picture.

oops forgot the $70 for the bolt that I had made from a company in Florida. Beautiful work and I am having the s/n put on it from the rifle.
