Default Semi-Auto .30-06

I have developed an obsession with some Benelli's I have seen, anyone have one (any brand) is the Semi-Auto worth it...I don't really hunt so it would only be used at the range...I guess I am asking is it worth spending the money on a Semi, or should I just stick to bolt??

I'm no Benelli semi-auto rifle expert, but if you love Benelli's why not get one?
The R1 hasn't been around very long, so it's hard to say one way or another just how good they are, but Benelli generally makes good stuff.

If you want to be safe, get the Browning BAR. Great reputation and proven design. Of course this is coming from someone that had to have a Nova the first year they came out.

If you want a semi-auto 30-06 the only proper platform is the M1 garand.

Am I lying?

For the price you;d pay for a browning bar you can have a genuine piece of WW2 history, all the accuracy you'd ever need for hunting, steadfast reliability, and it will only go up in value.

If you buy a browning bar over an m1 garand you should be shot! (I'm only half kidding)

Not if it's a 1918 BAR.

I used a semi auto 30.06 for many years in Wisconsin... and I LOVED it... ( It was a Remington )... however with Pennsylvanias ARCHARIC laws I could use it when I moved here so I sold it and got a bolt action.... its ok.. but still miss the semi.... but again its a matter of preference... if you are NOT going to use it for hunting and NOT on State Game Land ranges ( since they wont let you use it in semi auto mode) then go for it.. whichever one you decide on I am sure you will love it...
