Guys on multiple gun websites claim that a number of Yugos were exposed to corrosive ammo and not cleaned quickly, or at all. Some were used in the war in the early 90s, between Serbs, Croats, Bosnians etc.
Even Samco still sells corrosive x 39 ammo from Yugoslavia. It Never states Non-corrosive,and the price is about the same as for the good ammo (but for those with an unaltered Spanish Mauser action {caliber}, Samco sells the cheapest 7 x 57 mm -anywhere on the Net). Seasoned gun owners also claim that cleaning the chamber and barrel are all that is needed with normal steel barrels. I found my Norinco handier, lighter, having no grenade launcher or bayonet, but some claim that Yugos are better-built. My unfired Norinco was a very rare, good deal with a guy whose wife was angry after learning that their son found the gun in a closet, although UNloaded. A gang member had offered him $300, but "J" wanted to sell it for less ($200-quite uncommon) and find a good home with somebody who would take care of it and not use it in a crime etc. Luckily, this generous guy preferred shotguns, not rifles. Good luck. Last edited by Laufer; July 31st, 2008 at 01:26 AM. |

Just a curiosity, why does the buttstock always look like it's sagging on these sporterized SKS'?
