I would expect 150 - 200 for a garbage grade SKS... 250+ for a good quality... and if i remember correctly they are no longer importing any Yugo SKS so the SKS price is going to go up pretty quickly

To be honest (and you might not like this)
I think the SKS is an amazing gun, as it. They are best in their original condition, feed best from the internal mag, look best with the standard stock, ext.... If you look you might find a deal, but it was never meant to be a "tactical" rifle.

btw - if you are getting a Yugo try to find a SKS 59 instead of the 59/66, The 59 doesn't have the nade launcher on the front so it is a much shorter barrel.
I played around with mine a bit... not it just sits here, folding stock, new springs, buffer... etc. Not worth shooting with the price of ammo... might be willing to let it go for the right price... but 100 isn't the right price

Does this price work for you?

Too bad you weren't in the market in January 2008...I sold a Chinese SKS and Tapco T-6 stock (not installed) for $150.
The rifle had a Monte Carlo style stock. |

Notes made elsewhere:
Yugo SKSes don't have chromed barrels. Anyone who has chromed a Yugo SKS barrel will not sell it for 100 bucks. I saw a Yugo 59/66 in not-that-hot condition for 100 bucks in the past 12 months somewhere. On this point, Fragger wins. It didn't cycle, and that has been narrowed down to the gas tube. So that 100 is going to be 115-135 at the end of the day. So I saw 3 more 59/66 not-so-hot for 120 a piece in the last 6 months. No idea if they work yet, and it is actually rare to see them at this price at any quality. Pending they work, we will set to rest the luckiness of working, but perhaps not the luckiness of finding. There is no point for someone aiming to get a SKS for less than 100 to look for a Yugo 59 because a person can always find a better quality 59/66 for less. |

Last SKS I bought is a Norinco mixmaster, well-used stock, several different SN's, but all in the 4 digit range. Cost close to $200, and I was glad to pay it.
(It is a great shooter) Centerfire systems used to sell Yugo barreled actions, but last I looked they were sold out. They were under $100. I'd check the web for barreled actions rather than complete guns - there might be some left somewhere. If I found a complete SKS these days for $100, I'd be inclined to pass on it - it's probably non-functional junk. mark |
