Which ARs really suck?

A lot of things seem to have changed with ARs. It used to be only a few were any good. Now, some say go Colt. Others say, "Colt uses the same parts as everybody else. And ARs jam if you don't clean them, you should get a piston. Can somebody help me with my XYZ brand that won't lock back on last round?" LOL. Now there is BCM. And Spikes is just as good. And Rock River. DD is bragging rights.

Asking which AR to buy is almost a worthless question now since you will get 12 answers.

Which ARs suck?

I don't want any mention of good ARs. Or good ARs for the price. I want to know if there are any ARs left that are not reliable or break a lot. I see them all the time on the forums, and the people that own them say they are just as good as anything even though they choke or break.

There used to be a list of bad ARs. Which ones are considered bad today?

I would stay away from BushMaster, DPMS, ATI, and Del-ton. They are lower teir rifles and for the price you are paying you can build a better rifle cheaper from PSA. You really need to decide what you want the rifle for and then set your budget. There are decent rifles in the lower and mid tear range that will run great and hold up to general plinking and range fun and won't break the bank.

Seriously though, Olympic Arms, Bushmaster Carbon 15, Old Double Star (not new, new double star is supposed to be pretty dang good; new management, new machining processes, better QC...same name, new product), DPMS, Del Ton (as Hodgie said). I was thinking about it today. Some of these crazy parts kits out there in publications like Shotgun News can be junky.

My AR's have been Colts, BCM & Daniel Defense. Haven't had one that sucks yet.

Those polymer lower Bushmasters really suck. Carbon 15.

Battle Rifle Company ARs have had major issues. I would not buy any of the PSA PTAC line for my own use either.

I see Bushmaster has now changed the upper receiver of the Carbon 15 to aluminum rather than plastic. Lower is still plastic. I would not buy one but that was a step in the right direction.

PTAC has gotten a lot of crap in the past it seems like they are coming out of the bow espically with the new .308 line but only time will tell. Until the reviews are in I would stick with PSA's CHF or Preumium line.
