it's also fairly easy to find originals in decent shape, which would far more suiting for such a weapon.

just a thought.
The M1907 may not be correct, but if you are into tight groups, that is the way to go. I've used both types of slings on my Garand and the leather sling locks the firing position up tight if you do it right.

I actually decided to keep BOTH slings right after my last post...for just that reason One to look correct, and one to really tighten in on the X-ring.

You are going to need ammo. Check out the Greek stuff at CMP. Shoots great and is rather inexpensive by todays standards.

You mean like the order for 3 spam cans I just mailed in to the CMP today?

I wish I'd done it sooner, BTW. I saw they're on a 45 day backlog. I bought a single bandoleer at the gun show the other night when I bought the Garand, and blew through all but one clip at the range on Saturday.

I'd love one too! My brother is a giant M1 fan. He would love it.
I'd be happy with an un-messed with raw pic right from the camera :-)

They told me 3-4 weeks and the case of ammo came in 2. This was just last Friday. BTW, someone will have to be there to sign for it, it comes Fedex with signature required! And I don't mean sign the little notice and they will leave it, that's not acceptable to the type of delivery/signature they require.

Hope you are as lucky as me on the delivery time.

Nice. Yes, I hope I get the same turnaround time.

Yeah, I've had ammo delivered a number of times.

Oh, and I found a pretty decent source of Greek M2. A tad more expensive than CMP stuff, but not by much. Ordered up 6 boxes of 20 to tide me over in the meantime.

Funny thing, the Fedex guy asked my wife what was in the heavy wooden crate that was stamped with all kinds of hints!

Hahaha. Last week I got a small shipment of PMC .223 from Bud's. The UPS guy set it down and said "you, uh, may want to be careful with that."

I just smiled and signed his gadget.

Great thread.. Thanks for the pictures and all the info.
Garands just seem to keep climbing in price so I just got my papers together, notorized, etc for a CMP SG.

Funny you guys mention the shipping stuff. Our UPS guy is awesome. If we are not there when he attempts delivery, he leaves the notice but stops back on his way home since he knows I'm there after work. He brings the dogs dog treats too. He has even seen my car pull into the development, turned the truck around and come back to get me a package to sign for.
