You might try posting on CMP. If you just need to replace the firing pin, it's not TOO hard, you just have to be a bit careful.

What makes you think the pin is broken?

my stepfather and I pulled apart the trigger group and the bolt assy and the firing pin was in two pieces...

what happened from the very beginning is during a course of fire the weapon malfunctioned. It failed to fire with round in chamber, and the bolt would not move to the rear to extract the round in chamber. It was like the action was jammed shut...so we took the trigger group out which freed the pressure on the bolt and allowed us to remove the live round. At this time we continued field stripping the rifle and realized there was an extra piece among the trigger group that had been jamming the bolt mechanism which later turned out to be a piece of the firing pin. Sorry for the sarcasm in the last post. I need a gunsmith to look over the rifle and evaluate its needs and get it into working order so I can compete in CMP this summer.

If thats the case, just buy a pln from Fulton or one of the others on the web. If you have it torn down, you can put it back together. Where do you shoot the CMP course?

you might want to try "Garand Guy" in northern NJ. he's got an extensive website, and the drive might be worth your while.
I have no personal experience with him, btw. |
