Re: any ideas on how to improve accuracy on a Remington 700 ADL?
The scope that comes on that package is a Tasco IIRC. They retail for about $59. As stated before that rifle should outshoot you out of the box, but that scope has let alot of people down primarily with durability and also with horrid blurriness if the lighting isnt perfect.
If you are looking for an upgrade without breaking the bank this scope comes highly recommended by some heavy hitters....

You can also find some crazy deals on the EE of several of the gun sights on lightly used Leupold 3X9 etc.
People who are in the know often recommend spending some coin on really good rings and bases as well.
Good luck!I always sleep with my guns when you are gone

Splittiebus66, I couldn't remember good catch, the Burris Fullfield II also has a very good rep for a cheaper scope. For fixed power the Sightron SII is supposed to be good also.
Going through my favorites I found this article I saved:

Good sight with lots of info on optics.
He does a pretty decent test and comparison of 5 brands of the cheaper scopes. While he scored the Nikon Prostaff 5th....I have one on a .243 Savage and it has served me quite well.
Tasco or not, I would still take the rifle out to the range and see what she does first.
Good luck.Last edited by 762xIan; July 8th, 2013 at 07:22 PM.

Re: any ideas on how to improve accuracy on a Remington 700 ADL?
hello , I bought a 700 adl from wally world a bout a year ago. in 30-06 . was not impressed with the groups a tall . checked all the usuals , scope rings mounts, stock screws. still wouldn't tighten up the groups. then I read on line that the stock that rem. uses on the wally world adls was prone to flexing. so I took a chance and ordered a stock from boyds. no fitting required pulled the 3 screws out of synthetic remmy stock. dropped the action down into the boyds , tightened up the screws went to the range and with my load of 4350 and speer 150 grain hotcore spitzers pulled the groups down to under 1 inch. and if I can get stable enough can cut clover leaves with the groups. and this is with the [ cheap] scope that came with the rifle. stock was only 92.00 $ so with the price of stock and 417.00$ cost of rifle, a little over 500$ involved got a real accurate rifle. hope this helps

Re: any ideas on how to improve accuracy on a Remington 700 ADL?
ok here are the results, the gun shot GREAT! i fired 8 bullets 7- 150 gr winchester power max rapid expansion bonded and 1 180 gr. there was a storm coming so i didnt want to keep doing it i was shooting at 75 yards i didnt have enough range where i was shooting so i zeroed it in for 75 yards, i am still trying to figure out how to download pictures on here from my cell phone when i figure it out ill post the pictures. The gun is amazing i never thought it would produce results like that as it sits but its a really great gun !
it shot 1 inch groups at 75 yards not bad for a stock out of the box rifle!

What an ugly POS.
Kidding. I have the same rifle in the same caliber that had a Tasco "World Class" scope mounted on it from the factory. I haven't even found out what ammo it likes best yet, but plan on it this summer.
Here is a really good article that discusses relatively cheap ways to improve accuracy. Don't let the beginning of the article fool you. He discusses his stock 700 as well.

It should do better with a load it likes. Nice stick.
