Default Need help identifying this rifle.

It belonged to my wife's great grandfather and has been collecting dust for many years. The only markings on it are "Belgium" stamped in very small letters on top of the barrel and "457" stamped semi-crudely behind the action. It looks to be around a .22 caliber but the firing pin is centered and rather large. Of course it has an octagonal barrel.

If anybody can help me identify it you would have my utmost appreciation. Thanks!

Thanks for the help. Does anybody know of any sites on these? I searched and all I can find are auctions for them. I'm trying to gather info on it so that I can pass it along to my mother in law. I'd love to know what caliber and year this was made along with an actual model name.

I have one of this type, a parlor rifle in .22 cal. These were used with BBcaps, a primer fired
rimfire, so they could be fired in your parlor.

The action works fine despite the way it looks in the pics. It's not in as bad of condition as they make it look. The firing pin must be manually pushed to the rear so I'm guessing that there's a broken spring in there. I have NO idea how the extractor is supposed to work.

Woody, do you have any info on these?

The firing pin on mine is loose in it's hole and moves rearward as the breechblock is closed against
a cartridge. It also doesn't hit the rim as a modern .22 does. The extractor is pushed by the bottom
of the breechblock as it is opened. mine works so-so. There is nothing that locks the action closed
for firing other than the hammer spring. DON'T fire it even with .22 shorts as they will eject upon firing.
Hope that helps.
