Default Which would you buy?

I'm thinking about picking up another .223 rifle to go along with my AR but don't think I want just another AR. I like the idea of a piston system and I would like to be able to use my AR mags since I have so many already. I'm looking for something super reliable with around one MOA or better. I just can't decide which way to go. I need some help here.....

I really like the info I saw on the Massada but I get worried buying something new and unproven.

The XCR looks real nice (looked at one in a store) and I have read good things about it.

The 556 looks nice (looked at one already) but I have heard mixed reviews about it.

The POF AR15s look really nice but since I already have a nice AR I don't know if I want to spend the money for something I kinda have already.

If there is one I should look at that isn't listed let me know.....

I've heard many good things about the XCR. A buddy just got one, and he loves it. I have yet to shoot it, but he seems to think its great. If that helps.

I recently picked up a 556. Love it so far. Shoots softer than most AR's. Still need to find out how accurate it is.

I voted for Masada just because I love all of Magpul's stuff! (Plus they teamed up with Bushmaster now, too!)

I voted for the POF because it has been out for some time and the bugs should be worked out. Owning a number of ARs already, all I would have to do it change out the upper on any of my lowers..

If I had not owned those ARs, it would have been a difficult choice between the Masada or the Robinson. I think the Robinson would have won out.

The jury is still out on the Masada, until I read some field reports. I try not to buy the first of anything that hits the market. I wait until the fine tuning of a product is complete. I am leery of having another company building someone else's design. Too much temptation to fix something that isn't broken. Time will tell.

I completely disregarded the 556 because it would cost another chunk of change to make the appearance resemble what I think the weapon should have looked like coming off the production line.

I'd prolly go with the masada as they look like a quality firearm. I can't comment on the XCR as I have not researched them much. I prolly wouldn't buy one though since they seem to support a candidate who wants to limit and control the firearms I can buy and own.

If I was going for sheer reliability I'd get a Bulgarian SLR in 5.56.

Magpul looks nice but I'd wait to see how it stacks up against the HK 416 and the SCAR when they come out.

Don't know much about POF ARs.

The 556 is kind of front heavy.

The XCR looks great but I have heard a few bad things about it.

Here's one guys take from the saiga forum:

Quote:
I had an XCR and got rid of it withing 6 months. That rifle has problems. The main one is the quick change barrel. The bolt holding it in is too sensitive to torqueing and will come loose if not torqued to 200 ft-in, if it comes loose your barrel starts rattlign around in the reciver and you lose all accuracy. The problem is that if you torque it a bit past 200 ft-in you damage the receiver. It needs to be done with rather exacting limits. I do not know about you but most troops do not hump torque wrenches to the field. I tried tightening it with just an allen wrench and wound up stringing shots all over the place. It caused the two rifle instructors present to shake their heads and ask what was up with me that day as they know I hold a master certificate in rifle.

Additionally I agree with XXX that the way the bolt carrier group falls apart when you pull it out of the receiver leaves a lot to be desired. A great way to lose things or get sand into everything. The fact that the receiver is on a very limited hinge is also deal breaker, no fast easy access to the inside if things go wrong. Proprietary parts are not really very good for mass production either.

Another vote here for either the SLR-106FR or Sig 556. The Magpul/Bushmaster ACR is not yet available and probably won't be until 3rd quarter of this year...about the same time as the FN SCAR-L. If I were to wait I'd just get the SCAR. If you want something now, pick up the SLR or the Sig 556. The XRC is iffy for me. If Robarm goes under you're left with no support what so ever. On top of that...they have had alot of mixed reviews and Robarm hasn't held up their end of the deal with caliber options. If you can get past the looks...really look into the Sig.
