You can get a Romanian AK cheaper than the Yugos.

Yeah I know they are cheaper, I was comparing the two side by side and decided I would go for the Yugo. American Sport Shooting has 2 Yugo's and a Romanian, plus several with the black stocks and such. The Yugo he has seems much tighter than the romanian, They seem to be put together a bit better.

I was "this" close to buying an AK, and then I realized that no mater what I did, I wouldn't be able to make it shoot(accurately)much past 100 yards... only hits count. I'm building an AR.

Have you considered adding a new upper to one of your existing ARs?

They are both equaly sloppy lose fit IMO.
especialy so, since I own AR.

Ofcourse that sloppy fit is what made them so damn reliable under dirt and shit..

Nah dude, my old Mac90 was able to shoot target up to about 150yds....

As long as target was F150 pickup truck size that is tho....

In reality, I think mine shot about 10" group at 100yds, where as my AR shoots 2" group

I was Leary at first too. Heard all the talk about how they aren' t worth anything out past 100 yards. But then, I was realistic about it. For what I was buying it for, if I actually had to use it in a combat situation. Would I do much shooting over 100 yards? Being in the boonies (the woods). I rarely shoot at a deer at that range. If I'm in town, You can' t see that far. Between buildings and vehicles in town.

So, I went with super reliable. And as Thekatar stated. I think they will do a bit better than that anyway.

But you know what. I own two AK's. I'm getting an PAFOA lower and building an AR next. Cause..... I don't have one.

So, you need to buy an AK to complete your collection.

The AK in all flavors is a 200m weapon. If you can't hit a 9" x 12" steel plate at 100m every time with your AK and iron sights then the guy behind the gun needs a little more practice.

Default Re: AK or another AR?

Honestly, I am not concerned with accuracy over long distances, I have 2 good Rifles that will do all I really need and more. Was really looking at the AK for its simplness and really more of just having one. The same reason that I am also considering another AR but just simple and plain, no tacticool gear on it (rails, laser, redot ect..). I would sit in class in grade school and draw these two rifles, The styles just kind of bring back memories, which is the main reason I want one. I think I will probably go for the AK now, mainly because I think the AK will get banned before the AR, (or both) but sense I already have the AR I will get the AK.

I had thought about getting an upper for the AR I have, however I just cant see myself swiching uppers out whenever I want to shoot. But thats just me being lazy

Funny thing though, last time I shot an Ak, I couldnt hit squat with it. I don't know if the sights where out on the one I rented or what. I am sure it was just me though.

Thanks again for all your replies

Well Today I picked up an AK

I almost didn't get the AK though...... While I was at American Sport Shooting, he showed me different toy for me to play with... Well I ended up getting the other toy, But I ended up going back and getting the AK, after all no collection would be complete without an AK. I will try to post up some pictures tomorow.
