Default Re: Norinco M14s $399.00

Norinco makes very good firearms. Their 1911A1's use a higher grade carbon steel than ANY other make including Colt, Kimber, Springfield, aftermarket, etc. They aren't as fit/finished as well as the others, but are stronger than the others. If they use the same grade of steel in the M14's and other forged receiver weapons - you can expect many years of shooting happiness.

My Norc 1911 has been through $hit since the day I bought it in 1993. Dropped, ran over, drowned, dirt, etc - you name it, its probably been through it. It still shoots anything I stuff in it, not one FTF or FTE yet.

Its a shame though that the Pres and BATF-E wont let up on the ban to at least a small degree. There are many good pieces that would help keep our USA/other made stuff prices down with the supply/demand thing.

Well, some folks would heartily disagree. The same ones who beitch about "China Mart" and how no one has jobs anymore 'cause of cheap CHICOM goods.

I'd rather pay a hair more for an AK built on a US-made recvr assembled by US folks - even if they are monkey-skilled - at Century than a PLA-run CHICOM company.

Yes, we ALL miss the cheap CHICOM ammo and guns; but those clowns did it to themselves when they got caught shipping unmarked full-auto Norinco AKs into the LA ghettos of the PRC.

We don't need that kind of foreign imports.

Well put. Couldn't agree more. We all like affordable goods, but what are we paying in the long run for them?

I have a few friends in Canada that own Norinco M14's and I also have a gunsmith friend who worked on them, said the quality of the reciever is right up there with Springfield. Only thing is, op rod needs to be changed, and the wood was complete shit.

Here is a photo of my buddy Dans M14.

Got himself a boyds stock, and a Leupold scope. He paid ehhh...$435 US for the rifle, added a new Boyds stock, mounted a Leupold Scope, and did some work to the op rod. With ALL of that done, I think it came to, ehh $900-$1000, and here are the groups he is getting with hand loads to 100 yards so far.

You need to get your facts straight. The Norinco/Polytech M14S uses forged receivers. The only US company that offers forged M14 receivers is LRB.

http://www.lrbarms.com/m14receivers.html

There were some folks that stated that the bolts were soft on the M14S. I owned an M14S and I was going to have Warbird do his USGI conversion, but I sold the rifle. The Norinco M14S is a bargain if someone is trying to get into an M1A platform. Hell, even SA doesn't offer forged receivers.

A few years ago I was going to move to Canada and the price on them were $350.00. I was planning on buying 2-3 NIB.

Sweet! I hope they will be using the 5100 series steel that they make the 1911 and M14's in China with.
